Florence and the Machine

Couldn't think of what to call this so just called it what I was listening to.

Been painting this on my livestream since about 10. My neck is killing me and has been for about a week, any suggestions?

Love how he's going now, need to make him whiter though... suggestions too?

  1. Hi Rownea,
Going to have a go at critiquing it for you, hop you don;t mind! :)

Generally speaking I prefer a more natural colour palate, as I have seen in some of your other work, than what you have used here.
I think you lose something when taking a sketch from pencil into photoshop and making it a little too obviously digital. For me it;s the neons that throw it off, but hey, if you feel they are appropriate to the beast, then you know best!
I think you would benefit from throwing down some larger areas a little faster, at the moment you have clearly focused on the head and there is a lot of 'stuff' in the background which is still only suggested - Maybe that's how you want it to be when it's finished? If so, you might want to look at cropping the piece differently, to give more movement to the striking head.

I like some of the work around the mouth, I think the very dark background flattens the piece a lot, though it would fit nicely on a t-shirt! :)

  2. Hehe, I have to disagree with Ben on the colors things. :) I really like the crazy colors so far! It puts me in mind of a bio-luminescent deep sea creature. I agree that you might want to start developing other parts of the image, though. It seems like you're focusing too much on detailing the dragon's head when you still have so much space to fill in the image.
